Smoke, heat and CO detectors with 24/7 monitoring

A smoke alarm that only beeps does not help when no one is home. Our wireless Ajax detectors sound together, and they send the alarm to a live operator at any hour.

What each part does

  • SmokeAn optical smoke sensor in a dustproof chamber.
  • HeatAlarms above 58 °C (135 °F). Good for kitchens and garages, where a smoke sensor gives false alarms.
  • Carbon monoxideAlarms at 70 ppm within 60 to 240 minutes, at 150 ppm within 10 to 50 minutes, and at 400 ppm within 4 to 15 minutes.
  • Siren85 dB in every detector. When one goes off, they all sound within 20 seconds.
  • BatteriesUp to 5 years on two batteries. The app warns you at least 30 days before they run out.

Why monitored detectors

When you are away

A detector on its own can only beep. A monitored detector sends the alarm to the station, and the operator calls you.

When you are asleep

Every detector in the house sounds at once, so you hear it from the bedroom.

Pets at home

If a fire starts while you are out, someone still knows.

Cabins and rentals

You get the alarm for a property you are not at.

What happens when a detector goes off

  1. A detector senses it

Smoke, heat or carbon monoxide reaches a detector.

  2. Every detector sounds

All the detectors on the system sound within 20 seconds.

  3. The station gets it

The alarm goes to our ULC listed partner station, 24 hours a day.

  4. Help is sent

The operator follows your call list and asks the fire department to attend, under your local rules.

ULC listed means the monitoring station meets the Underwriters Laboratories of Canada standard for alarm monitoring.

On the same system

Water leak detectors

Under sinks, water heaters and washing machines. They alert you when they get wet, and again when the water is gone.

Your alarm and cameras

The detectors run on the same Ajax hub and app as your alarm.

Before you buy

Keep the smoke alarms that your home already has. Our detectors add 24/7 monitoring on top.

These detectors are made for homes. They do not replace a fire alarm system that the building code requires in a commercial or multi-family building.

Questions about detectors

Do these replace the smoke alarms in my house?

No. Keep the smoke alarms that your home already has. Ajax detectors add 24/7 monitoring, so someone knows when you are not home.

Are the detectors wireless?

Yes. They run on batteries and talk to the hub by radio. The FireProtect 2 RB runs up to 5 years on two CR123A batteries.

Where should the detectors go?

Smoke detectors in the halls and on every floor. Heat detectors in the kitchen and garage. CO detectors near the bedrooms. We place each one at the site visit.

What if the internet is down?

The detectors still sound. On the Cellular Plan, the hub also sends the alarm to the station over the cell network.

Is a heat detector the same as a smoke detector?

No. A heat detector reacts to high heat, not smoke. It is the better choice where cooking or car exhaust would set off a smoke detector.
