Cameras and privacy in a strata
In BC, the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) applies to cameras in a strata. PIPA can allow cameras on outside doors and in parkades, to prevent break ins, theft and damage.
We help council choose camera views that fit that purpose, decide who can see the footage, and put up notice signs. Council makes the final call. Check your bylaws, and the guidance from the BC Privacy Commissioner.

Building something new?
Developers: we can install access control, cameras and alarms before handover, so the strata starts with a working system. See new construction.
Questions from councils and managers
Who can see the camera footage?
Council decides who can view footage. We suggest a short list, such as council and the manager.
What happens when a resident loses a fob?
The manager turns off the fob online, or we do it during office hours. Then the resident gets a new fob.
Can you work with our existing fob system?
Sometimes. We check your system for free and tell you what can stay.
Do you give quotes for council meetings?
Yes. You get a written quote, line by line, for council to approve.
